Essex mortgage is hiring for our Payment Processing Specialist position to assist our Servicing Department!
*Job Summary:*
Responsible for assigned duties within the Servicing division.
The Cashiering Specialist is responsible for assigned duties related to loan boarding, cashiering, payoff, lien release and other processes.
It requires understanding applicable compliance and regulatory rules associated with first and second lien residential mortgage loans.
*Essential Duties:* Cashiering * Monitor receipt of incoming wire and process funds * Perform any required research on existing loans including payment reversals and application of funds.
* Process payments, NSFs, payoffs, charge offs, recoveries, and non-accruals * Perform daily reconciliation of accounts * Process Mortgage Accountant System Functions * Review daily payment exception reports.
* Process set ups and cancellations of automatic loan payments * Contact clients by phone or letter regarding short payments * Contact vendors to address issues and questions as they related to accounts for resolution.
* Review and prepare responses to requests for payoff demands received from borrower, escrow companies and title companies as well as internal customers.
* Facilitate accurate accounting of loans in the core system * Resolve un-posted transactions * Perform transaction postings and reversals as needed for accurate accounting * Process loan charge-offs * Assist in processing wires and other electronic transactions * Perform collateral releases and prepare correspondence to borrower to process paid out loans; perform and retain necessary documentation of action taken * Process Verification of Mortgages * Review payoff demand statements and reconcile with internal reports for accuracy.
* Process and support Lien Release functions.
Credit Reporting Maintenance: * Research and respond to customer billing questions and credit reporting inquiries * Provide timely research and response to credit reporting disputes submitted from the customer via E-Oscar * Maintain records of responses to requests * Submit and reconcile reporting to 4 credit repositories General Duties * Support testing efforts for all system-related updates.
* Work with the appropriate departments to facilitate a smooth and timely response to all audit requests.
* Report status and results of the Servicing Units’ activities.
* Assist with creating or updating departmental procedures.
Responsible for updating "How To" procedures and creating "How To" job aid procedures for areas of knowledge * Process requests received in group mailbox.
* Complete all compliance training in a timely manner * Flexibility in helping out in other areas/departments.
* Administrative duties as assigned *Education and Experience* * Two+ years mortgage servicing experience is preferred * Bachelors or relevant experience in the field.
* Ability to build rapport quickly to convert inquiries into proper transfers to departments/agents for resolution * Ability to multitask and effectively manage time.
* Ability to communicate effectively – both in written and verbal form.
* Desire to take personal responsibility to complete tasks and solve problems.
* Excellent organizational skills and strong work ethic.
* Ability to remain professional even under strenuous situations.
* Be able to take ownership of an issue.

) *Reasoning and Mental Abilities* * Uses critical thinking skills to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and to analyze complex documents like contracts and technical directions.
