FOOD SERVICE SUPERVISOR - Dietary 020
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Food Services Supervisor works in coordination with the Building Services Manager to provide attractive and nutritionally adequate food to consumers, inpatient and residential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the consultant dietician, provides nutrition education to consumers and conducts nutrition screenings.
Maintains daily supervision of the Dietary Department and its employees, as well as department records.
Interviews, recommends/selects for hire/discharge and disciplines food services personnel as needed.
Supervises, plans, schedules and coordinates the duties for the dietary employees.
Assists in formulation and revision of policies and procedures.
Conducts orientation programs and in-services for the Dietary employees.
Evaluates department regularly to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.
Attends meetings or conferences with other supervisors, as needed.
Procurement and storage of goods and supplies, as well as insuring proper handling of foods to prevent contamination, increase quality and reduce cost.
Such other duties that may be delegated or assigned by the Building Services Manager or Hospital Administrator.
The ability to comply with the regulations requiring a workplace of dignity and respect and equal employment opportunity compliance.
The ability to work collaboratively with others and to accept constructive criticism from supervisors and managers.
Willingness to abide by the company’s published rules and regulations.
Knowledge in all aspects of dietary operations.
Must be able to effectively supervise dietary staff.
Accepts consultation and recommendations from the Center’s consultant dietician regarding the operation of the dietary department and coordination of consumer nutrition education and assessment activities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Required: High school graduate or GED.
Preferred: Certified Dietary Manager
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT: Completes all requirements according to Individual Training Plan within the first six months of hire and annually.
Other training and/or professional trainings/ certifications.
