OFAB is currently looking for a Welding Production Supervisor for 2nd Shift (3:00p.
m.
-11:30p.
m.
).
This person must be reliable, have a positive attitude, possess the ability to work at a quick pace, and show a strong commitment to quality.
This position is a department supervisor reporting to the Production Manager.
The primary purpose is to direct the activities of various welding production lines.
The position oversees and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in cutting, grinding, and welding of custom fabrication part orders in a manufacturing environment.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *Focus on Safety protocols and make sure all employees are adhering to company PPE requirements.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment that is in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) norms.
* *Uphold high Quality standards and enforce Quality process checks.
Inspect work, trouble shoot issues that arise during production and/or confer with quality inspectors to maintain specified standards and quality.
* *Maintain work flow by establishing priorities, assign duties to workers, and adjust work procedures to meet production schedule needs.
* *Implement cost reductions by developing procedural improvements and more efficient manufacturing processes.
Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements.
Implement process changes generated from employee suggestions or other areas.
* *Build a team work atmosphere within own areas of responsibility and between departments.
Communicate answers to questions and respond to employee requests.
* *Train workers in the operation of departmental equipment and tools.
Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs.
Evaluate new equipment and techniques.
* *Requisition supplies such as welding wire and rods, gas, and other applicable consumable items.
* *Track welder production, analyze and forecast welding productivity, and provide data and support to management team to ensure productivity meets or exceeds expectations.
* *Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending action or implementing training and/or disciplinary measures.
* QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS (Education, experience, certifications, proficiencies, etc.
): *High School diploma or equivalent.
* *Five (5)+ years of welding experience.
* *Three to five (3-5) years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
* *Knowledge of base and welding materials.
* *Ability to analyze prints and develop fixtures and processes.
Able to read, understand, and apply existing pre-qualified weld procedures.
* *Ability to utilize measuring tools accurately (tape measure, weld gauges, etc.
)* *Thorough understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
* OTHER DUTIES and EXPECTATIONS: *Must exercise continuous leadership to focus department efforts on company strategies and adapt to shifting priorities.
* *Must be technically proficient to "troubleshoot" welding issues.
* *An employee in this position works in an environment in which safety, environmental, and health concerns may demand constant attention.
Strict adherence to company policies, rules, and regulations in these areas is required.

An employee in this position must focus on customers' expectations, prevent problems, and strive for continuous improvement resulting in improved results for themselves, customers, and other employees.
* *Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Incumbent will follow other job-related instructions and perform other job-related duties from time to time, if requested by management.
* PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position operates in a manufacturing plant setting.
Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
To perform the duties of this job, an individual must be able to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time (three to four (3-4) hours at a time).
Must also possess the ability to lift and transport parts.
The employee is regularly required to utilize a computer to research job tasks and process company documentation.
Job Type: Full Time (some OT and weekends will be required).
