Description:
Tideman Marine, a subsidiary of United Plastic Fabricating, manufactures HDPE commercial duty boats for the marine industry.
United Plastic Fabricating is the industry leader in the manufacture of plastic water tanks for the fire industry.
In addition, we design and manufacture a variety of products for the industrial and transportation markets.
Develop, maintain, and improve assembly processes for production.
Setup and maintain production systems.
Develop, enter, and maintain labor standards.
Work with materials group in material ordering.
Package and assemble finished goods.
Work with hand tools to complete assembly jobs.
Test assembled products for safety, function, and compliance.
Assist in troubleshooting.
Work in team environment to achieve goals.
Capable of working in all stages of ship construction.
Develop a solid understanding of the processes and support systems in place to yield the required product quality and consistency within a boat manufacturing environment.
Identifying and remove elements of waste from the manufacturing value chain.
Effectively interface with internal departments and customers, as needed.
Support and contribute to team activities in product development, supplier and raw materials development, and engineering design.
Analyzing delivery and inventory issues and providing solutions.

Requirements:
5+ years’ experience in commercial boat building (under 50’ in length) preferred.
Understand ABYC/NMMA/USCG standards, trained and certified as needed.
Strong understanding of hull outfitting process including but not limited to working knowledge:
completion of the superstructure,
installation of the ship’s power plant, engines, and other machinery,
interior equipment and systems, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC
finishing of interior spaces,
and installation of furnishing
Proficient at boat handling, trailering and general boat operations and maintenance.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally if needed.
Understanding defense contracting and the demands of the commercial marine environment a plus.
