00 + full benefits *Required: Must be able to clear pre-employment background, drug test, physical; Must possess a valid and active Driver's License w/ relatively clean driving record* GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES Under minimal supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform outdoor general maintenance, grounds keeping and custodial work in the assigned functional area.
Employees in this classification function at entry level, and are responsible for accomplishing a daily routine of general and preventative facilities and infrastructure maintenance and repair tasks to provide employees and general public with an environmentally safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient public buildings, roadways, and grounds.
Employee has knowledge and proficiency gained through training and experience.
Performs related work as directed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility, but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements.
Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the work load.
Performs manual labor tasks in support of maintenance and/or construction on County roads and right-of-ways.
Routinely uses various hand tools in the performance of assigned tasks.
Operates various pieces of small equipment in the performance of assigned tasks.
Performs routine light maintenance to include cleaning of various, small equipment and vehicles to ensure safe, efficient and continuous operation.
Handle hazardous and non-hazardous materials required in the maintenance and/or construction of County roads and right-of-ways.
Assists in the setup of work zones and routinely responsible for performing flagging duties to ensure the safety of workers.
Completes all required paperwork to include work reports, equipment and vehicle checklist and time sheets.
Required to report to work at the appointed hour, as scheduled, and to work the entire assigned schedule.
Respond to emergencies and work on-call.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS May be required to work extended shifts after hours, on holidays, or weekends in emergency situations.
Performs other duties as assigned within job classification.
Minimum Requirements: Education Requirement: High School Diploma or GED Professional Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in either outdoor construction, landscaping, ground maintenance or something closely related.
Preferred = Professional or Personal experience in operating a rake, shovel, hand blower, chainsaw, pole saw, weed eater, pavement saw, compactor, wood chipper, lawn mower, thermal patch unit, pickup truck, and a two-way radio.
Licenses: Possession of a Standard and Valid Florida Driver’s License Preferred = CDL Class A or B preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Problem Solving Abilities Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Requires some judgment in selection of procedures, methods, or tools, equipment to own work to accomplish tasks.
Specialized Skills and Abilities Some knowledge of simple tools used in maintenance.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and the ability to learn to operate trucks and light automotive equipment on a trainee basis.
Ability to work in all weather conditions Ability to stand for long periods of time and Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly be required to sit, stand, walk, climb or balance, and lift up to one hundred pounds; and will frequently be required to and to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.
Special vision requirements of this position include close, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; vibrations; high, precarious places; and fumes or airborne particles; and will frequently be.
PHYSICAL DEMAND REQUIREMENTS: Physical Demand: Heavy 100 lbs.
