Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform daily production and manufacturing functions, as well as: assign shift responsibilities and break schedules, review, correct, and approve shift reporting paperwork, train operators on how to correct errors, recommend process improvements, and enter data into the ERP/IQMS system.
Primary Functions
· At shift change, meet with off-going Manufacturing Assistant to discuss which production runs (jobs) are running and the labor requirements (at least 15 min.
before start of shift).
o Consult with Team Lead or Supervisor before assigning shift for any special needs.
o Get time sheets and night list.
· Assign oncoming shift personnel to work on specific production runs.
o Fill in start times of Temporary employees.
o Update labor board and assign break schedule.
· Meet with off-going shift to learn what is complete and what needs to happen over the course of the oncoming shift (which jobs might be completing, any special needs, etc).
o Responsible for communicating with on-coming/ off-going Manufacturing Assistants, Supervisor or Operators on how the shift ran (i.
e.
, anything unusual to pay attention to, were any problems experiences, trimming requirements, if needed, spraying of mold, if required, loading in inserts, if required packaging and how many parts are still needed, reviewing paperwork, and any special procedures or instructions of the day).
· For second and third shifts, follow the night list.
Look at what production runs are changing and when.
Communicate with team.
· Follow your procedures when performing tasks.
Fill out forms as you go.
Follow the step by step processes, so things do not get missed.
· Reading the Product Specification sheets on each press in designated area daily and staying up-dated on necessary information, to help operators do the same at their respective press.
o This includes understanding: part information, visual dimensional criteria, material handling, etc.
o Packaging requirements involve knowing where packaging materials are located, writing on labels, sealing and labeling of boxes.
· Reporting any defects or improvements that should/could be made to the Shift Supervisor or Manager
· Inspecting finished goods to ensure they meet all requirements and specifications
· Knowing how to handle the press in case of an emergency
· Keeping up with production counts
· Training operators on how to run machines productively (consistent cycles) and/or performing post-molding operations properly such as: inspecting parts, gate cutting, trimming parts, bagging, wrapping, packaging, insert removal, sorting, etc.
· Checking full boxes for correct weight, counts, and that accurate production counts are recorded on all necessary paperwork and posted
· Recording and helping track machine downtime on all presses in the assigned work area
· Helping to perform a Line Clearance on machines when changing jobs to ensure that all product and materials from the previous job are no longer at the press in order to prevent product mixing.
· Moving completed and approved product off the production floor in a timely manner to the assigned Product Staging area, as needed.
This includes using appropriate pallets, as well as knowing how to stack boxes properly on the pallets
